I’m Rex
– If I am not talking to my translation team, I might be playing video game right now.
Who Am I?
I am a certified Chinese translator of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) in the UK.
I am also a Chartered Linguist of CIOL in the UK, and an ATA-affiliated member in the US.
In some EU countries, I am also acknowledged as a sworn translator.
I’m really into learning new stuff, like dance and marketing right now. I’m even thinking of tackling Python soon. Just love getting into all the latest technologies!
Why Me?
With over ten years of experience, I have come to understand that effective translation extends beyond mere word-for-word accuracy, a common focus of most translators.
My approach is centered on creating a meaningful connection with your audience.
This is the reason my clients consistently choose my services. They recognise that I provide not only precise translations, but also a deep engagement with the reader.
Translating for you and your audience, beyond mere word accuracy.
My Translation History
In 2015, I began my career as a translator with a listed company in Hong Kong. This role introduced me to the fields of finance, accounting, and legal domains. I honed my skills in translating Simplified Chinese (Mandarin) and Traditional Chinese (Cantonese), working with a variety of clients including listed companies, governments, law firms, and accounting firms.
In 2017, I relocated to Shanghai to lead a new division at RR Donnelley, overseeing a team of 10 translators. This experience taught me valuable team-building skills and equipped me to manage large-scale projects. During this time, I expanded my expertise to include banking, insurance, and IPOs, building on my foundation in finance and legal translation.
By the end of 2019, our division was dissolved, and I embarked on my freelance career, setting the stage for the formation of my own team.
In 2020, as the pandemic led to frequent lockdowns, I spent much of my time at home and established my translation team, Rex Trans, with just two members to manage the growing demands of my clients.
In 2021, I expanded into new areas with clients like Workday and IBM, focusing on IT, software, and localization.
In 2022, I entered the cryptocurrency sector, adding clients like KuCoin and Coinbase, and continued to grow in localization.
By 2023, I became a certified translator with the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), which helped me attract new clients primarily from the UK and Europe. I also began taking on government projects, including press releases and website translations.
We cherish our team and prioritize delivering value-added services to our clients.
